Profilo magico e metafisico

The birch tree, also called “lady of the woods,” is Berkana manifest. Birch trees represent the Divine Feminine and are especially sacred to the goddesses Freyja and Aino. Some say the wood of a birch should not be used unless the tree has been blessed by Thor (struck by lightning). Lore states that causing harm to the tree will anger the spirits of the forest. Because the birch offers the protection of a loving mother, fallen twigs are brought into the home to protect against curses and evil spirits. The lady of the woods represents love, new beginnings, protection, feminine magick, and the cycles of life and death. The wood is an excellent choice for rune and wand making; just be sure to first ask permission of the Great Goddess or the tree itself. When giving worship to the Earth Mother or the land spirits, offerings are best placed at the base of a birch tree.
